The end of exclusion technique?

Facebook announced more removal of detailed targeting options, aimed to reduce discrimination in ad targeting.

If you go deeper into the article, it is the exclusion that got affected most. For those savvy Facebook advertisers, audience exclusion technique has been one of the most effective audience targeting techniques. It is effective in avoiding your ads from reaching certain group of people, hence, you get better result as you get to zoom into those who are more likely to convert.

I wouldn’t say the technique is no longer useful, but the anti-discrimination measures surely changed things. But moving forward, I really think that having a strategy is more important than ever. While everyone is trying to use certain techniques, we need to have a better plan.
